Discussions and Essays: Great Tools for Question Four

Thoughtful answers to Question Four ("What do we think about that?") are the ultimate goal of the 4QM, and we often use discussion classes and essay questions to help students think through their answers. This resources is an essay question about Marxism from a tenth grade test on the industrial revolution; it follows a typical Q2-Q4 sequence, in which students first understand what someone was thinking, then make their own judgment about those ideas. Obviously this sequence also works well as a class discussion.


I 've started liking history a lot more! I used to have to study for hours and hours for tests, but now that I am actually taught the subjects, rather than just memorizing them, I have been much more successful and enjoy the subject.
